Big City Livin

Well, Geoff and I have lived in Lincoln for almost a whole month.  (Saturday being the official month marker)  And we have come a loong ways since our first few days here.  For starters, I had no idea how to navigate myself through this city.  For the most part, driving in Lincoln is a lot like driving in Springfield.  You would expect the capitol of Nebraska to have huge freeways and highways but it doesn't.  Just when you get downtown does it get tricky.  There are a lot of one way roads and roads that suddenly end.  Well today, was a first for me.  We opened our bank account at U.S. Bank and their main building is downtown.  We feel super fancy going to bank at such a huge bank where you park IN, not under, the building.  I had to go in today to activate my new debit card.  I was so proud of myself since I made it down there, parked and payed and walked to the building, and activated my card without Geoff's help.  Leaving, ah leaving downtown, that was a different story.  I was heading towards HyVee since I had to return a red box and grab a loaf a bread and I was trying to get to one of the main roads that would take me there.  I went to turn left down a street, that to me, looked to be a two way road.  I was wrong.  Probably the scariest thing I have experienced since moving here to be going down a road with cars coming straight towards you!  I quickly pulled into a parking lot and turned myself around!  Sca-ry.

We also have access to tons of things.  We can drive right down towards the Husker's Stadium, have access to multiple theaters, lots of shopping, tons of bike trails and city parks.  It sure is a lot different than good ole CJ, MO but I'm starting to like it.  We even think we may have narrowed our church selection down to between two churches close to our apartment.  And I have two job interviews with Lincoln Public Schools on Wednesday for Para positions.  Its definitely not like home, but its a fun adventure!

Geoff and I heading out to the movies downtown on Friday Night

  1. ... I LOVE HYVEE.... if you get their adds or subscribe to them through e-mail you can watch for some really good sales and save tons of money. Our apartment in KC was right by a hyvee and we would to it... loved it!

I'm very proud of you for being so positive with your exciting new adventure. Change can be hard, but you are doing great!

Also, I'll keep you in my prayers for the job!
