Today Geoff and I went to the Farmer's Market downtown in the area called The Haymarket. We got online the other night to find things to do in the area and I decided we should go to the Farmer's Market at least once and this Saturday would be perfect. So after Geoff woke me up...twice....we made it to the market. I was expecting something nice but I had no idea just what we were getting into. After circling, and circling, and circling we found a spot to park and decided to brave the heat. Our fist glimpse of Farmer's Market was what I expected but when we rounded the corner, WOW. This thing was HUGE!! It just kept going and going and going!! It was a full City block long, wide, deep. It. Was. Huge. After the initial shock of the magnitude of this Farmer's Market we got into the swing of things and started making purchases! I had always heard that if you eat honey from the area you live, your allergies wont' be so bad so I found us some local bee keepers and got us some honey. Up next, Geoff sampled some "If You Dare" hot salsa, and after downing some water decided it was good enough to go back for and get a jar. While waking around we noticed people carrying bundles of flowers, well we found their booth and Geoff bought me the most BEAUTIFUL bundle of roses, lilies, and daisies!!! Then we decided to get some carrots, green beans, tomatoes and of course, corn to finish off our haul. But not only were there your typical farmer's market items but crafts, jewelry, music, breads, meats, any thing your heart could desire. This is probably going to be an almost weekly event for us. Now I have to figure out how to make "fancy" carrots like we had on our honeymoon with our farmer's market carrots!! Check out some pics:

I have an amazing husband. Shout out to the Hesi family for this amazing vase we got as a wedding gift! |
We did several other things today like checking out the mall and a few other stores and ended the night with bringing home Boston Market and watch some TV. Today is also a very special day because my cousin got married!! It makes my heart heavy to know that I wasn't there physically, but I was definitely there is spirit. Unfortunately a trip to Ohio just does not fit into a newlywed and newly moved budget. I'm so happy for Darren and Joanna and I know that God will bless them in their marriage. They have exciting adventures ahead of them too! Joanna will be teaching at a grade school in Shawnee, OK and Darren is finishing up his degree to be a Police Officer! Congrats to Mr.and Mrs. Darren Briley! I love you both!
Ok before I go, you have to check out this picture. This is what I look at everyday:
